Two Graphix Supply World (GSW) customers, Digigraphix and Ornate, have given positive feedback after buying the Fujifilm Acuity Advance Select Flatbed, Mimaki SWJ-320 and Mimaki JV33 1.6m wide-format outdoor-durable ink-jet printers.
DIGIGRAPHIX
Six months ago, Digigraphix purchased a Fujifilm Acuity Advance Select Flatbed, one of six sold in Africa, without assessing the alternatives. Schaun Uys, Digigraphix’s MD was so confident about the product and the manufacturer responsible for it, that the machine hasn’t stopped printing since being installed.
After training on the Acuity, Digigraphix could offer clients pack mock-ups without requiring them to commit to an expensive litho run. Uys described the production process, ‘You start off with a plain mock-up sample and once the style is approved, you get a designer to put the graphics on it for you. Then we’d normally run out a flat proof or we’d PDF it for the client’s approval. Once they’re happy with that, we’ll use the Acuity to put it on the substrate that we’re going to produce the manufactured run on. We send it to clients with the cut-ups actually made up, so what they see is what they get.’
The machine prints at 1200dpi at a speed of 35sqm per hour and its one-pass system allows users to print a single run in two or three layers of colour, in white and clear inks. This density and clarity is what Uys had in mind when he wanted to update the company’s POP and POS services.
Uys said that the return on investment is already starting to show, with existing customers taking advantage of the service. Clients are also pleased with the quality of their prints and are often more likely to stick around for the full production run.
ORNATE

They can now print wider graphics at a much faster rate than before.
