Europe’s top car wrappers will come together once more at Viscom from 7-9 November 2013, where the European Wrap Star competion will be taking place for the fifth time. Car wrapping, the affordable, high-quality alternative to painting, has been a topic featured at the trade fair for years.
The Wrap Star competition is organised by MR Clipart and Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH, the organiser of Viscom. Additional support for the event is provided by, among others, lead sponsor CFC CarFilmComponents and Seiko Instruments GmbH. Both companies are also Viscom 2013 exhibitors.
Film manufacturers and digital printing providers will exhibit their innovations at Viscom. Contestants stand a chance of taking home great prizes worth a total of R1.6m (EUR 120,000).
Contenders will do battle with each other in five rounds of competition in hopes of reaching the big final. Some 20 participants have already registered, all aiming to be crowned ‘European Wrap Star’. Experienced advertising technicians and car wrappers are allowed to register for the competition.
The contestants will apply a wrap on to a Volkswagen Group’s city car. Participants will receive prizes worth at least R14 000 (EUR 1,000) and winners can look forward to valuable non-cash prizes.
A detailed schedule as well as the entry form can be found on European Wrap Star’s website: www.european-wrap-star.com
The five rounds of the European Wrap Star competition will be held over the span of three days. Day one, Thursday, will kick off at 10:10 am with six first-round match-ups of 30 minutes each. The day will wrap up with another edition of the ‘Wrappers’ Night’, a party in Düsseldorf’s Old Town.
On Day two, Friday, the event will continue with four second-round match-ups of 40 minutes each. The third round will take place in the afternoon, with two match-ups of 45 minutes to determine the semi-finalists.
The third and final day will be suspense-packed: the two 60-minute semi-finals will start at 10:10 am and 11:40 am, respectively, and at 2:00 pm the winner of this year’s European Wrap Star will be determined in the big final.
This year’s jury will be composed of a new five expert team whose job it is to judge the participants. Last year’s winner, car wrapper Morten Bak-Fredslund, will be the head of jury. He’ll get support from four additional experts: the co-owner of MR Clipart Manfred Ratajczak, drawing on his rich experience as a master lighting technician and advertising manufacturer, Nils Kühn and Mark Riedel representing lead sponsor CarFilmComponents (CFC), and Horst Rothenberger of Avery Dennison, another event co-sponsor.
