OKI scooped the Viscom Best of 2013 Award, in the textile finishing category for the OKI ES9541, an LED page-at-a-time printer that offers a fifth spot colour in either white or clear gloss.

The LED page printer’s technology executes the move away from the transfer roll and toward the transfer belt, eliminating direct contact between paper and image drum. This ensures uniform conditions during the production of the print image.

Furthermore, the OKI ES9541 offers enhanced substrate flexibility, as it is also suitable for printing on polyester, cotton and other materials. Compared to previous models, the ‘mileage’ of the image drum has been increased, which leads to a longer product service life coupled with lower cost of ownership, according to the manufacturer.

The white and clear toner option was a crucial factor in being selected for the Best of 2013 Award, because it represents an innovative feature in the industry. The OKI ES9541’s versatility and never-before-seen ability to print in five colours also won over the judges.

The quality of the final print result also contributed decisively to the win, colours don’t run during printing, which leads to results that compare favourably even to the direct printing method. The jury praised the ease of use, the moderate price and the quality of the toner cartridges.
