Roland DG Launches Eco-Solvent Inkjet Printer/Cutter

Roland DG Launches Eco-Solvent Inkjet Printer:Cutter

For brilliant colour, the XG-640 employs newly designed dual staggered printheads that eject finer ink droplets at higher densities. The 162.56cm (64 inch) eco-solvent inkjet printer/cutter takes printing and cutting to a whole new level of versatility, usability and productivity.

‘The new XG-640 is our fastest printer/cutter ever, combining the overwhelming high image quality and versatile expressive power of the TrueVIS series with our pioneering print/cut technology,’ said Ryugo Nimura, President, Global Sales and Marketing Division. ‘It not only creates eye-catching sign graphics, but also enables the seamless, automated production of a wide variety of uniquely shaped applications, including stickers, labels, and apparel decorations. It provides your business with increased efficiency and a strong competitive edge.’

For brilliant colour, the XG-640 employs newly designed dual staggered printheads that eject finer ink droplets at higher densities. The new high-speed data control technology maximises performance, achieving outstanding productivity of 15.2sqm/h in standard mode for 8-colour PVC and 22.5sqm/h in standard mode for 4-colour PVC.

The XG-640 uses new GBL-free TR3 ink to deliver rich, vivid colour in a wide colour gamut, with a choice of ink configurations up to 8 colours. White ink printing is three times faster and 1.3 times denser than the VG3, delivering excellent opacity for window graphics and base coats.

True Rich Color is a unique print setting that optimises the potential of the device to create beautifully realistic graphics that combine vivid colours with neutral greys, smooth gradations, and natural skin tones. Users can now quickly select the ideal colour setting, including more vivid colour, deeper colour, or softer colour depending on the desired output.

The XG-640 is packed with additional productivity features for efficient, high-quality output, including automatic media set-up and take-up systems to ensure fast and stable throughput, a 7-inch colour LCD touch-screen control panel, automated pinch rollers, perforated sheet cutting, a media gap adjustment function, and self-maintenance features.

A powerful software package is also included with the XG-640. Roland DG’s latest RIP software, VersaWorks 7, has greatly enhanced processing capacity, an enhanced user interface and is now compatible with macOS as well as Windows. In addition, the XG-640 is compatible with Roland DG Connect, a powerful, comprehensive platform for users to streamline their workflow, manage print operation and grow their business.

Nimura said, ‘The XG-640 is a printer that not only delivers outstanding print and cut output, but also offers superb productivity, efficient and user-friendly operation, maximum versatility and high profitability for owners, making it ideal for sign and graphics professionals. It is especially suitable for users who require quick turnaround for a wide variety of output. Roland DG will continue to provide best-in-class products and services for the sign and graphics market, to empower the creativity and business possibilities of our customers.’

The machine will be available for demonstrations at Roland DG South Africa later in June 2025.
