OKI South Africa has introduced a new full colour digital label printing machine. The Anytron Digital Label Press. The Press integrated with OKI Specialised Label Printers produces high resolution output at up to nine metres per second thanks to digital single-pass technology.

OKI product manager Emile Pitout said the device is ideal for manufacturers, store branding and labelling of food, supplements or other products. ‘Private labelling of a variety of products has emerged as a significant draw card for consumers. As a result, manufacturers, consumer product companies, supermarkets and many other businesses require a device which can deliver purpose-printed labels at high speed and low-cost.’

Private label products are typically manufactured by one company for sale under another brand, such as ‘own brand’ goods in supermarkets. Pitout said that in the consumer products game, the quality of the packaging is paramount. ‘That’s where the Anytron Digital Label Press has a particular advantage. Not only is it faster and more reliable that any of its competitors, it also prints at a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi.’

Reliability and speed is a result of the device’s Single Pass technology (in terms of which the labels follow a straight path through the machine, with no bending) as well as a sophisticated take-up and feed unit. The continuous roll printing achieves an output speed that leads the industry in desktop label printing.

The Anytron Digital Label Press measures just over 1.6 metres long and 58cm wide. Capable of handling (10cm, 15cm or 20cm) 4, 6 or 8-inch label stock, it produces high-definition, full colour labels which are also waterproof and scratch resistant. A wide variety of self-adhesive label stock is available – to suit products contained in anything from wine bottles, to boxed goods, punnets or bags.

Accurate registration of +/- 0.5mm is guaranteed, supporting post-processing rotary cutting. In addition to the printer, Pitout says the Anytron range includes a digital laser die cutter; combined with the Digital Label Press, a complete labelling solution that can fit into even small factories is possible. ‘The Anytron is the world’s first desktop, roll-fed digital laser die contour cutter,’ said Pitout.
