Ruan Greeff from Wrap My Ride will compete in the FESPA World Wrap Masters Grand Final at FESPA 2016 in Amsterdam, from 8-11 March. Greeff was crowned the ultimate winner of the 2015 Avery Dennison/Roland Speedwrap Challenge at FESPA Africa, and won a trip to compete in Amsterdam. FESPA Africa is behind him all the way and wishes him the best.
FESPA Africa had a Q&A with Greeff:
1. IT'S QUITE CLOSE TO THE EVENT. HOW ARE YOU FEELING?
Time is really flying by, I am very excited and also very nervous at the same time.
2. HAVE YOU BEEN PRACTISING FOR THE COMPETITION?
Yes. I took part in the Roland/Avery Dennison Extreme Speedwrap Challenge at the Sign Africa expo in Cape Town last year and I want to do the challenge again at the Sign Africa Durban expo during February just for the competition and the 'against time' experience.
I have wrapped different stuff, from cars to mannequins to helmets to small electric cars to everything that is possible to wrap. I'm timing myself with the different things I wrap, but not feeling the pressure like in the competition, so that's why I'm participating in the Speedwrap competition at the Sign Africa expo.
I also had a session with the 2014 world wrap masters champ, just to keep my mind open and fresh to anything new that can and will help.
3. WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST AT THE COMPETITION?
I am looking forward to the knowledge and experience I can gain as well as meeting new people in the industry. I want to learn as much as possible in the time I'm there, as well as every day from there on. And of course, enjoying the scenery.
4. WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO CONTESTANTS AT THIS YEAR'S FESPA AFRICA SPEEDWRAP AT GALLAGHER CONVENTION CENTRE, JOHANNESBURG?
I would tell them to keep focused and to stay calm, knowing that it's easier said than done. The competition is very strong, and there are a lot of phenomenal applicators out there. At the end of the day, the best person wins.
