Zünd Cutter Provide Measurable Impact For Finishing Requirements

U.S.-based print-on-demand manufacturer, Artelo, has reframed on-demand fine-art production with Zünd. Artelo specialises in premium fine-art printing and framing for artists, e-commerce brands, galleries, and retailers seeking fast, reliable and high-quality fulfilment.

The company operates a fully integrated production facility where printing, cutting, finishing, framing, packaging, and shipping all take place in-house. This vertical integration allows Artelo to maintain consistent quality while scaling efficiently to meet the demands of its diverse customer base, from independent creators launching new collections to high-volume retail partners requiring repeatable, production-level standards.

Before investing in digital cutting technology, Artelo’s finishing processes were becoming a bottleneck. The production team needed greater cutting capacity to support higher volume, reduce manual handling, and improve accuracy across a wide variety of print sizes and materials. When artwork is framed, even minor dimensional variances are noticeable, so precision and consistency are essential.

In a high-mix, high-volume environment where every order may be different, Artelo also needed a system that could adapt easily, with minimal manual intervention. It had to keep cutting operations moving at the same pace as printing. And finally, the company wanted a cutting solution that could support both immediate needs and long-term expansion.

Artelo first learned about Zünd through online research while evaluating industrial cutting platforms. The company was drawn to Zünd’s reputation for high-quality engineering, precision, and a strong track record in demanding production environments.

That initial exploration led the team to visit the FESPA tradeshow in Europe, where they saw the equipment operating live and spoke directly with the Zünd team. Artelo now operates two digital cutting systems, a Zünd G3 L-2500 and G3 L-3200, which play a central role in its finishing processes. The cutters handle final trimming of efficiently nested fine-art prints in many different sizes while maintaining consistent output quality. They streamline the production of framed products, where exact dimensional accuracy ensures a perfect fit.

Artelo additionally uses the Zünd systems to cut specialty materials, including certificates and branded inserts, that elevate the customer experience. The ability to move seamlessly between different sizes and products gives the team the flexibility that on-demand production requires.

Zünd has had a measurable impact on Artelo’s overall efficiency. Jobs now move through production more quickly and predictably, reducing bottlenecks and minimising manual labour. The systems provide the level of dimensional accuracy and consistency Artelo needs to maintain its standards across every product.

Looking ahead, Artelo expects continued growth in both order volume and product variety. As it introduces more custom formats and expands its offerings, the need for a cutting platform that supports rapid adaptation becomes increasingly important. Zünd provides the flexibility to integrate new materials, sizes, and workflows without adding complexity.
