Thirteen graduates from Printing SA’s screen printing project completed the Multi-colour Level II screen printing course, and celebrated their graduation at a ceremony held at the organisation’s Midrand office on 16 October. The project up-skills unemployed women in the rural/township areas and teaches them screen printing and entrepreneurial skills.
The screen printing project, funded by the FP&M SETA, commenced in 2014, whereby women were taught single colour screen printing combined with an Entrepreneurship programme. A costing and marketing workshop was held in April 2015 to assist the women in understanding how they should set up their costs for products as well as how to market their businesses. The graduates then completed multi-colour screen printing training this year.
This project is just one of Printing SA’s many ongoing initiatives aimed at the upliftment of the industry. There are plans to roll out the project nationally.
