Mimaki’s JV400SUV has won a Large Format Printing/LFP category award at viscom Frankfurt in the viscom Best of 2012 awards. The JV400SUV operates with a new generation of inks, which Mimaki has developed. In this, the flexibility of solvent-based inks is combined with the durability of UV curing inks.
During the printing process, the solvent in the ink is absorbed by the receiving layer of the medium and the pigment is anchored in the substrate. The UV unit cures the printed ink, which provides the completed print with a smooth and shiny surface. The prints are very scratch resistant, weatherproof and immediately dry. In addition, the inks retain their intensity. The JV400-130/160SUV model achieves a print speed of up to 18sqm per hour.
The company also showcased the JFX500-2131, which delivers highly detailed printing down to 2pt characters. The large-sized flatbed (2,100mm x 3,100mm) enables direct printing on a wide range of materials up to a 100mm high. The UV-LED curing unit ensures significantly improved curing-efficiency – high-speed printing is now possible without leaving uncured ink behind. And there’s a wide choice of hard or flexible inks to suit every job.
The system also uses eco-friendly, energy-saving, longer-lasting LEDs and almost no VOCs are generated by UV-curing printing. The printing process is also more efficient, as larger-sized substrates can be used.
