The new high-performance mounting products include white foam tapes (coated on two sides), high-tack transfer adhesives and double-coated film tapes. The products feature permanent high-shear pressure-sensitive adhesives and are designed to help those in the sign and graphics industry execute permanent assembly applications with confidence.

Launched as PERMAHOLD high-performance mounting products, they are part of the expansion of PERMACOLOR Overlaminates and Mounting Films product line. They can be used to assemble projects to various substrates, including hard to stick to UV cured ink sets and painted wall surfaces. These products are ideal for tradeshow booths, point-of-purchase signage and other mounting applications.

‘For more than 60 years, Mactac has been a market innovator and leader in mounting adhesive technologies. And, every day, customers come to us facing material challenges in sign building applications,’ said Amanda Smith, associate product manager, Mactac Distributor Products. ‘Our new mounting adhesive line takes that into consideration and provides a solvent-free, economical solution in a format that can be stocked locally.’

Manufactured in the USA on Mactac’s newest coating equipment, the latest mounting product additions for graphic applications, include:

Macmount White Foam Tape: the foam allows for conformability and compressibility to irregular surfaces. They feature 2.6-mils of rubber adhesive, which is specially formulated to maintain superior holding power and creep resistance for challenging indoor wall mounting applications, like wayfinding signage, tradeshow and display graphics, point-of-sale graphics, soap/hand sanitiser dispensers and low-VOC painted wall surfaces. The tapes are supported by a 78# super-dimensionally stable Kraft liner.

Macbond Acrylic High-Tack Transfer Adhesive: available in 2.0-mil (IF4042) and 4.0-mil (IF4044) low-profile thicknesses, these products feature a solvent-free acrylic adhesive that is pH-neutral to avoid yellowing and offers added firmness for ease in handling, die-cutting and finishing. They offer excellent conformability to rough or uneven surfaces and are ideal for indoor or outdoor fixture, sign and panel applications, including nameplate and face mounting applications. They bond well to substrates such as acrylic, Sintra®, styrene, Dibond, low-surface energy (LSE) plastics, powder-coated and low-VOC painted surfaces, felt and fabric. These transfer adhesives are supported by a 72# poly-coated Kraft moisture-stable liner.

Macbond Acrylic High-Tack Double-Coated Film: available in two constructions, these tapes have been double coated with 2.4-mils (IB4132) of solvent-free pH-neutral permanent acrylic adhesive with non-yellowing properties. One construction features a 0.5-mil clear polyester carrier, and the other uses a 2.6-mil (IB4432) white opaque polypropylene carrier (an excellent backer in lieu of a white UV flood coat on CYMK prints). Both have a two-side silicone-coated 72# poly-coated Kraft liner. With high initial tack, they adhere to a wide variety of smooth, rough or uneven substrates, including printed UV inks. They are commonly used for mounting to flexible PVC, acrylic, Sintra, styrene, Dibond, LSE plastics and powder-coated and low-VOC painted surfaces. They can also be used to mount reverse-printed UV ink to other hard surfaces.

Mactac’s expanded high-performance mounting products for graphic applications have a 2-year shelf life. Sintra and Dibond are registered trademarks of 3A Composites.
