Flexa And Diatecx Partnership Aims To Serve Professional Interior Decoration Industry

Flexa Partnership Creates Balance Between Advanced Finishing Equipment And High-Performance Materials

The recent partnership between Flexa and Diatecx has created the perfect balance between advanced finishing equipment and high-performance materials. This shared vision is the foundation of the collaboration between Flexa and Diatecx, two complementary companies working together to serve the professional interior decoration industry.

The combination of Diatecx wallpaper media, a high-end large format printer such as the Canon Colorado, and Flexa Miura Katana automatic cutter and UD/RD 170 unwinder/rewinder units, is a concrete example of an optimised and efficient production process.

The inline workflow includes: unwinding a jumbo roll of wallpaper, followed by printing and automatic cutting; or unwinding, printing, and rewinding the printed media for later processing.

Printing is carried out on Diatecx 2512, a 195g/sqm non-woven, PVC-free, FSC®-certified wallpaper designed for use with solvent, UV, latex, and eco-solvent inks. It’s ideal for interior design applications that require high visual quality and environmental sustainability.

Once printed, the roll moves to the Miura Katana automatic XY cutter, developed for the wallpaper market. Its unique ‘V shaped angled cut system’ eliminates the ‘white line’ effect often visible at the seams between tiles, especially on dark backgrounds, preventing the need for manual retouching during installation.

Key features of Miura Katana: motorised lengthwise shear cutters with digital display (patent pending); two automatic edge control systems with sensors with 0.05mm reading accuracy; dual traction rollers to keep the wallpaper taut, avoiding wrinkles; and it is designed to work inline with roll-to-roll printers, including Canon Colorado.

The result is perfectly aligned panels, enhanced visual quality, and no need for manual corrections, saving time and ensuring superior results.

For increased productivity, the Miura Katana can be used inline with a large format printer. When working with jumbo rolls, the system can be expanded by adding the Flexa UD 170 unwinder upstream of the printer.

UD/RD 170

The UD 170 unwinder and RD 170 rewinder are designed to handle jumbo rolls up to 600mm in diameter and 400kg in weight. These units operate inline with printers, supporting higher production volumes with unmatched precision and consistency.

The UD 170 motorised unwinder is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor for automatic vertical alignment, making it ideal even for rolls that are not perfectly rewound.

The RD 170 motorised rewinder, placed downstream of the printer, features an optical sensor that ensures precise roll alignment, improving productivity and minimising waste.

Flexa unwinder and rewinder units are currently the only solutions on the market equipped with this dual alignment control system, delivering significant advantages in terms of accuracy and production efficiency.

The collaboration between Diatecx and Flexa demonstrates how the combination of premium media and innovative finishing technologies can transform wallpaper production into a faster, more accurate, and defect-free process.
