Five people have burnt to death and four others are critically injured after two cars collided head-on on the N2 south near Umgababa on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.
KZN Transport spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane says MEC Willies Mchunu has set up a task team to investigate the accident.
“One driver was trying to take a U-turn on the road and therefore both cars were caught alight and five people died on the scene and four sustained serious injuries and were taken to nearest hospitals. It came at a time when we have also received a high number of people who have died. There are more than one hundred and fifty people who died in the month of July alone.”
