The choice of Metamark material enabled the delivery of exhibition graphics for a historic communications site. Drawing on a long-standing relationship with PK Porthcurno, Freedom Signs helped transform a World War Two bunker into an engaging exhibition environment, combining high-quality graphics, careful spatial planning and sensitive installation techniques to support a major visitor experience.
The latest exhibition at PK Porthcurno explored the contemporary issue of fake news within a site renowned for its communications heritage. Working within two rooms of a historic World War Two bunker, Freedom Signs needed to transform client-supplied content into a coherent and engaging visitor experience. The project demanded careful attention to sightlines, legibility and presentation, while respecting the constraints of a sensitive heritage environment.
Artwork and editorial content were supplied by the client, with Freedom Signs responsible for developing these elements into a practical exhibition scheme. Drawing on experience gained through multiple previous exhibitions at the venue, the team refined layouts, balanced text and imagery, and incorporated features such as suspended double-sided graphics to maximise visitor engagement.
Large wall graphics were produced using Metamark MD5 High Tack and Metamark MD3, while a combination of panels and graphics helped organise information throughout the space. Strict quality control ensured excellent, MD-Class print performance for close-range viewing.
The completed exhibition provides visitors with a clear and immersive journey through the subject matter while making effective use of the available space. Careful planning and project management enabled a smooth installation, with French-cleated panels allowing graphics to be removed and reinstated without unnecessary impact on the historic structure. The project further strengthened Freedom Signs’ long-standing relationship with the venue and demonstrated its expertise in delivering exhibition environments where design, interpretation and production must work seamlessly together.
