Diversification And Inclusivity Is Key To The Success And Support Of Women In The Print Industry
Elke Brink, DTF Printing Africa.

We really appreciate the support of C1W sponsors like DTF Printing Africa who have been on board since the start. Elke Brink, Marketing and Sales Manager at DTF Printing Africa, shares her inspiring thoughts on the industry, trends, the key to success and what we can do attract young talent to the industry.

What do you love about working in the printing industry?

After almost 40 years of being involved in the supply of screen-printing equipment, ink and consumables, DTG equipment and more recently DTF and UV DTF supplies, I am still obsessed with print technology. The print industry is rapidly adapting to the digital age, meaning there is always something new to learn. No two days are the same and I am still learning.

What are the top three printing industry trends?

Eco-friendly practices, faster on-demand production and personalised printing is no longer a luxury, it is what customers are expecting.

What is the key to success in the print industry?

Diversification is key. Diversifying not only brings in new revenue but forces you to adapt to market changes.

What can be done to attract young female talent into the industry?

Being more supportive of organisations like C1W. Maybe hold a meet and greet with our female clients, their female staff and the team behind C1W at various factories throughout South Africa. We need to spread the work/word among our clients and their staff who more than likely do not leave the workplace.

What can be done to support woman currently in the industry?

Expand the network by including everyone from sales to production to the lady who answers the phone. There needs to be more inclusivity and possible growth into different sectors of the business they are in.
