In South Africa, women make up 51.1% of the population and are often the backbone of their families. Statistics South Africa indicated that South Africa’s official unemployment rate was 31.9% in the third quarter of 2025. The youth unemployment rate (ages 15-24) fell to a two-year low of 58,5% in the third quarter.
The need for empowerment and opportunity has never been more urgent. That’s where Change 1 Woman (C1W) comes in: by helping just one woman, we can ignite a ripple effect that transforms many lives. Join the C1W community where women connect, share experiences, and support each other’s growth.
Four networking events were hosted at each Sign Africa and Africa Print expo this year, where women got to connect with suppliers, discuss their challenges and generate new ideas for their businesses. We also got to introduce C1W at the Printing SA Women In Print series in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
The C1W website was launched, a platform featuring information on upcoming C1W networking events, news and informative women-led content and information on training opportunities. Website visitors can also get an overview of what C1W is about, and how to get involved.
‘When we launched C1W at the end of 2024, I never would have imagined what a successful platform it would become in such a short space of time. Thank you to everyone who generously sponsored our initiatives, attended our events, and to those who have expressed their interest in supporting us in making an even greater impact next year,’ said Charnia Yapp, Founder, C1W.
