For Paris-based print and display specialist WeCom, their challenge was to keep up with the high demands of luxury clients while managing production in a relatively small workshop. The company invested in the Summa F1612 flatbed cutter, in partnership with long-term dealer Poitoo Adhésifs – Antalis, to enhance speed, precision, and flexibility.
Located in Paris, WeCom specialises in adhesive graphics, storefronts, and wall decorations, serving a broad range of retail customers across France. The company also produces complementary products such as 3D logos, panels, and other advertising decor. With clients expecting durable, high-quality results at competitive prices, WeCom manages the entire process from production to installation.
Founder Damien Ascani explained, ‘Our clients want maximum durability at a low cost. It’s always about finding the right balance, and for storefronts in particular, quality and longevity are critical.’
Before adopting Summa, WeCom was often out of sync in its production process because cutting large rolls manually could take three to four hours, slowing production down and increasing pressure to meet strict deadlines.
As a small business with a compact workshop, Ascani needed a solution that could not only handle diverse retail applications but also physically fit into the space without costly alterations to the building. The new machine had to enter the workshop without breaking down walls, while still being powerful enough to manage demanding retail projects.
Ascani turned to Poitoo Adhésifs – Antalis’ Jerôme Gelin, a long-term partner for WeCom, to find the right solution. Gelin, who has been working with Summa for many years, identified the F1612 flatbed cutter as the best fit for WeCom’s needs.
‘The F1612 offered the right balance between size and performance. Compact enough to be installed in WeCom’s workshop without major renovations, it was still versatile and powerful, enabling Ascani to handle adhesive rolls, signage, and other retail applications with ease’, said Gelin.
Ascani already knew Summa from doing research on YouTube and talking to colleagues in the sector who have a Summa cutter and told him they would never switch to anything else. So when Gelin suggested the Summa F1612, he was quickly sold on the idea. ‘With Summa, I’m assured of European-made quality and a level of service in cooperation with Poitoo Adhésifs – Antalis that is unmatched. I know that if any issue arises, they will quickly act on it and find a solution for me.’
Since installing the F1612, WeCom has seen immediate improvements in both efficiency and quality. Cutting large rolls that once took three to four hours by hand is now completed in just 45 minutes, unlocking significant time savings and reducing costs compared to manual labour or outsourcing. The consistent precision of the machine has elevated the quality of output, in turn enabling Damien to focus on higher-value tasks.
Another key advantage is safety. The built-in protection systems prevent hazardous situations and destructive errors, giving Ascani ease of mind in daily operations. This emphasis on operator safety sets Summa apart from the competition and reassures small business owners like Ascani that their investment is reliable and secure.
As Ascani summarised, ‘I’m saving time and gaining quality. If I had to choose again, I’d make the same decision.’
For WeCom, their F1612 is quickly becoming a partner for growth. Thanks to its versatility, it offers Ascani the chance to evolve and offer his customers more options in the future, a necessary step to satisfy the high-end needs of his clientèle.
Gelin underlines the importance of loyalty and trust in this partnership, ‘I have worked with Summa since 2011, across the different companies where I’ve been active. For me, it was unthinkable to choose anything else. What sets Summa apart is their loyalty; they are always there in the difficult moments, with customer service, engineering, and production based in Europe. That reactivity and reliability is something I can always count on.’
