Additionally, the displays enable image accuracy inspired by the industry leading master monitors, providing highly realistic large-scale imagery that maintains image integrity close-up and at a distance.

Both models are designed to be flexible, long-lasting and easy-to-install. Each display is comprised of modular, seamless and bezel-free tiles that can scale to accommodate a range of sizes, layouts and resolutions. Due to the display’s light weight and streamlined design, it can be installed in various configurations including wall-mounted or in a curved arrangement.

The displays provide enhanced content that is upscaled while maintaining high-resolution (‘Reality Creation’), smooth and artifact-free pictures without motion blur (‘Motionflow’) and showcase impressive gradation expression (‘22bit Super Bit Mapping’). Highlights also include a wide viewing angle and wide colour gamut, as well as a various input signals, including HDR, HFR (120fps) and 3D.

The Crystal LED C-series provides high contrast of 1,000,000:1. The Crystal LED B-series offers high brightness (1,800 cd/sqm [ZRD-B12A]), ideal for bright environments while still showcasing astonishingly realistic images with a wide colour gamut. This series has an anti-reflection coating with a matte finish that is especially ideal for creators, designers and production applications including virtual sets and studio backdrops. B-series was developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment to reflect the creator’s needs.

Drytac Films Applied In Multi-Site Graphics Project

Informative graphics printed on Drytac’s Viziprint Illuminate were installed at two locations for Goodbody Botanicals. The 100µ (4mil) translucent matte PET film has been developed for backlit window graphics and vibrant backlit display applications.

It has a bright white base colour and is able to diffuse light, creating vivid window graphics, displays, decals, stickers and more with a wider colour gamut. It is reverse printable, allowing window advertisements to be viewed during the day in direct sunlight and at night when illuminated by store lighting.

Drytac PET Films Applied In Multi-Site Project
Drytac’s Viziprint Illuminate

Minuteman Press Bath completed the multi-site graphics project. The client required Minuteman Press to print and install a range of graphics at its stores to promote its new and private Covid-19 testing service. The signage also promotes the key steps customers can take to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. In addition, smaller graphics remind people of the three main symptoms of the virus.

Kieran Blacknall, large format manager at Minuteman Press Bath, said Drytac’s Viziprint Illuminate was perfect for the project as it was ‘really easy to work with and install’. ‘The client was looking for a solution to convey the new testing service at their clinics. We looked at various options, including lightboxes, but all proved to be very costly in comparison to the Viziprint Illuminate media by Drytac,’ said Blacknall.

He continued, ‘Goodbody Botanicals have spotlights positioned behind every window, so we decided a media with backlit properties would perform best and have the biggest impact, particularly during the winter months. Viziprint Illuminate is great; really easy to work with and install. We’re always impressed with Drytac products and the advice and service we receive from the company.’

Company Completes UK’s First Non-PVC Digitally Printed Scaffold Wrap

The UK’s first non-PVC digitally printed scaffold wrap measures 26m wide and 4.5m high. The banner uses Kavalan’s Sunlight frontlit eco-responsible substrate, developed closely with digital print specialists CMYUK.

Embrace Building Wraps completed the installation of the wrap at Newson’s Yard in Belgravia for the Grosvenor Estate. After removal, the durable textile material can be reused in the agricultural sector and then ultimately processed to generate energy from waste, unlike PVC, which is generally sent to landfill.

Greg Forster, MD at Embrace, commented, ‘Together with the Grosvenor Estate, our two organisations respect the environment and are always on the lookout for fresh and innovative solutions. The distinctive design on the wrap is pixel-perfect, masking the scaffold while maintaining a delightful streetscape for the community during the build.’

Embrace Building Wraps’ goal is to reduce reliance on PVC and move to more sustainable printable media solutions as the sector’s leader in environmental positivity. It has concluded its own in-house testing on print quality to ensure that the material delivers the same visual appearance and manufacturing process with heat and vibration welding. To ensure the structural integrity of the material, it conducted pull tests to ensure that the material is robust. The results were that the PVC-banners can withstand up to 774kg on average, suitable for the considerable stresses Mother Nature throws at its bespoke installs over the four seasons.

The PVC-free banners are suitable for indoor and outdoor use as a solid flexible print substrate, constructed from a 56% polyester scrim and a 44% PA water-based coating. The company will still send the material to be repurposed and then – even when the second life of the wrap is over – the material can be sent for energy-from-waste disposal.

Epson South Africa Announce Large Format Plotters

Compact, reliable and affordable, the 60.96cm (24 inch) SC-T3100M and 91.44cm (36 inch) SC-T5100M plotters do not compromise on capability. The series is ideal for technical drawing, plotting CAD, GIS maps and printing a range of assets for the retail and hospitality sectors.

The 3-in-1 printers series features a simple top loading scanning workflow with a 600dpi scanner that accurately replicates documents (up to 2.72m) into multiple formats and sends them securely to various destinations, as well as scaling original copies. A tray supports scanned documents to avoid any valuable originals being damaged on the floor.

The range has been designed to be dust-free as standard – print quality and internal components are protected, which makes it the ideal solution for environments such as construction site offices and high footfall areas. The compact design of the SC-T3100M means it can fit into the smallest of spaces and enables it to be transported from one location to another with ease.

Epson offers two sizes of ink cartridge to meet the needs of the customer, whether a low volume, occasional user or those with a larger demand for regular high-quality prints. The series benefits from all pigment-based inks providing colour stability and water resistance, meaning they are ideal for poster production for damp environments such as shop windows. The superior light-fastness of the inks is useful for technical drawings and documents that will need to be archived for long periods. The permanent printhead provides assurance to the user of no unexpected costs down the line.

Both the SC-T3100M and SC-T5100M are supported by the Epson Cloud Solution PORT platform. Epson Cloud Solution PORT is available for free and enables users to update and monitor equipment across several sites, from the production floor to remote locations.

Vernon Mellors, business account manager at Epson South Africa said, ‘The impressive price point combined with a compact design and high specification features make the SC-T3100M and SC-T5100M a great choice for businesses that need a reliable multi-function printer from a trusted brand.’

Business Chooses Agfa Inkjet Printing System For Interior Decoration

TianYuan HuiBang Group (iDecor) is one of the largest interior decoration printing materials companies in China, exporting décor paper and PVC film worldwide. With several years of inkjet proofing experience, and after having surveyed and tested a number of inkjet production systems, they chose Agfa’s InterioJet 2500 printing system for short print runs and customisation of décor paper.

By doing so, they became the first company in China to invest in this décor paper inkjet system that enables them to run a non-stop printing production with consistent colour quality, and that is equipped with inks and primer that fit perfectly with the traditional impregnation and lamination post-processes.

Reset Zhang, CEO of TianYuan HuiBang Group (TYHB), who is also Vice Chairman of the China National Forest Products Industry Association’s (CNFPIA’s) Decorative Paper and Surface Wood-based Panel (CDSC), and one of the opinion leaders in the décor paper industry in China stated, ‘Choosing the Agfa system solution and service has been one of our best investment decisions. The InterioJet system with water-based inks set and analogue primer makes our production complete. The printed paper fits perfectly with the traditional impregnation and lamination post-process, and helps us gain new business consisting of digital short run and customisation orders.’

This is one of two Chinese companies who recently invested in Agfa’s water-based inkjet printing system for interior decoration. The InterioJet brings them top print quality and advanced customisation for the digital printing of laminated surface designs.

The Dilon Group (Zhejiang Dilon New Material Co., Ltd.) is also one of the largest interior decoration printing materials companies in China, exporting décor paper and PVC film worldwide. They had been testing décor paper printing and post-processing for a while when they finally chose Agfa’s InterioJet 3300 system solution for décor paper printing to complement their existing traditional gravure printing press.

Thanks to Agfa’s inkjet system, they can also gain new business, e.g. from printing wide format images without repetitions, short run jobs, mass customisation and thanks to the fact that they can now take on jobs that they couldn’t print with traditional gravure, including flooring, furniture and wall panel decoration.

Kai Lin, General Manager of the Design and Business Development Department at the Dilon Group, said, ‘We spent more than two years to survey and test inkjet systems from all over the world, including single-pass systems. We opted for Agfa’s InterioJet 3300 system solution and the accompanying service, as it proved the best fit for our demands and our concept, as well as for our current impregnation and lamination process. And most importantly, Agfa delivered more than we had expected in terms of machine performance, quality, support and service. The Agfa team is a long-term partner for our progress.’

Solimar Systems Receives Award For Print Solutions

Keypoint Intelligence has awarded Solimar Systems’ ReadyPDF platform with a Buyers Lab Outstanding Innovation award in Production Print.

Winners were chosen by Keypoint Intelligence’s independent panel of print production analysts based on their ability to ‘improve output quality, enhance productivity, deliver workflow efficiencies, impact sustainability and advance their product segments in meaningful ways.’

ReadyPDF is designed to overcome the challenges customers encounter with many RIP systems: to fully optimise PDF files for print and digital delivery or archive and to simplify integration into existing workflows, providing dramatic advantages for the end-user.

Brian Cox, Senior Director of Software Development and BCS Architecture at RR Donnelley, Solimar Advisory Council member stated, ‘RR Donnelley has been a long-time enterprise customer of the Solimar Chemistry platform for print file conversions and post-composition enhancements. ReadyPDF is now benefiting us in our pre-press processes as we clean up and improve PDF files prior to production.’

The reasons ReadyPDF was presented the Outstanding ‘Achievement in Innovation: Production Printing’ Award by KPI included:

PDF file size reduction up to 14 times, as illustrated in lab testing at KPI earlier this year. ReadyPDF provides a cost-effective measure, ensuring that the digital front ends or DFEs of high-speed digital presses can process data to keep them running at optimal press speeds.

Increased automation, including automated PDF inspection and correction, enables printers to automate onboarding of production work, without the requirement for manual intervention. With streamlined PDF file complexity, ReadyPDF optimises resources and fixes structural issues within PDF files so they process more efficiently.

Mary Ann Rowan, Chief Experience Officer, Solimar Systems, commented, ‘We are very grateful for the recognition by Keypoint Intelligence. Solimar Systems has been delivering PDF infrastructure for printing and digital use for more than two decades. ReadyPDF fills an important technology gap for high volume personalised content processing and complements our other PDF-centric workflow solutions in our Chemistry platform.’
