Midcomp showcased a number of HP machines, among many other innovations, at the recent Sign Africa And FESPA Africa Expo, held from 13-15 September at Gallagher Convention Centre.
Equipment showcased on the HP stand:
The HP Latex 1500: the affordable, superwide printer features water-based HP Latex technology and delivers a combination of true application versatility, high image quality and high productivity, with a sustainable approach that’s better for operators, businesses and the environment.
The HP PageWide XL 8000 Printer, which is renowned for total production cost savings of up to 50%, produces top-quality technical printing, GIS map printing and point-of-sale (POS) posters at breakthrough speeds. The machine also produces durable technical documents up to 101.6cm (40 inches) wide with crisp lines, fine detail and smooth greyscales.
The HP PageWide XL 5000 Printer, featuring fast delivery times in monochrome and colour, fast colour and excellent document quality, as well as cutting total production costs by up to 30%.
The HP PageWide XL 4000 Printer, which enables the user to consolidate monochrome and colour, with technical document quality in a system built for security.
Also showcased was a range of other HP Latex machines including the 315, 335, 365 and 570 models.
Other solutions showcased:
For the first time at the expo was the JHF UV Printer (with three and half picolitre dropsize Kyocera print heads), which is built for European standards, and is capable of printing at resolutions of 600 x 900dpi, 600 x 1200dpi, 600 x 1800dpi and 1200 x 1200dpi. Use of a high-precision mute linear guide rail results in minimum noise while the use of four industrial-grade rollers with large diameter ensures precise media movement. A water-cooled printing table optimises the use of a wide range of media including thin media, while allowing for continuous printing at high speeds. JHF high quality, high definition inks are environmently friendly and odourless.
The DCS Printer from the USA, which prints on objects such as wine bottles, golf balls as well as T-shirts, using UV ink. It has the ability to print up to 304.8mm (12 inches) wide. The machine’s design takes into consideration years of valuable customer and technician feedback. With a ew cover design, the 1800z models have a fresh look that mimics previous designs.
The Fotoba XLD 170 WP, a special version of the XLD 170 digital print cutter, is designed to enable an ideal vertical cut. Ideal for trimming multiple tiles of single images for side by side, it follows the image with an accuracy of 0,06mm (0,002 in). The Fotoba XLD 170 is the most flexible of all Fotoba cutters; is designed to work with both rolls and sheets and trims all flexible media output up to 1,7m.
The Zund S3 cutter system (a smaller version of the G3) features exceptional processing speeds that are the result of intelligent control technology, an advanced drive system and sophisticated tooling. Optimally synchronised cutting, perforating, marking and routing tools complete the system.
Sean Greer, Midcomp Group marketing director, said, 'This was an awesome show - the general interest in our products and services shows a definite upturn in the market compared to last year. We interacted with visitors from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, Nigeria and a few others. Our lead capture doubled this year and we did a fair amount of business both on the booth and during the days following the show. Buyers were very optimistic. Many of our deals were on the back of big contracts, which makes the purchase of a machine a no-brainer. Customers are starting to think outside the box and about where they can add value for their clients.'
